The Recent OHBI Update 9/29/05
The primary source for bridge information for this list has been the Ohio Historic Bridge Inventory (OHBI) in its various iterations. A new version is now available at: http://www.dot.state.oh.us/oes/ODOT%20Historic%20Bridge%20List%209-29-05.PDF I was surprised this update came so soon; the previous update interval was about 5 years. The newest version (dated 09/29/05) has not yet been reconciled with the Bridge List.
Tom Barrett of the Ohio Office of Environmental Services (OES) has graciously provided me with an expanded version of the OHBI list which contains UTM and/or decimal Lat/Long coordinates. These coordinates -like in the past- will be individually checked and corrected using topological maps (Topo USA Ver. 5.0) of the road and intersect locations before they are entered in the Bridge List. It is anticipated that it will take many weeks to add the new entries and remove those that are no longer on the current list. Until the update is completed this bridge list will remain in its form as of mid November 2005. Look for an announcement of the update in this section.
