What is it?



This is another view of the OLD42 bridge showing a complete side. David Simmons says its just a Pratt with double diagonals (counters) in the center panels. This design is apparently fairly common in order to counter force reversals in the truss members that can be caused by bridge loading. The extra horizontal members are a bit unusual though.
