A Tale of Two Bridges

Photo: Don O'Brien, 1940

Don O'Brien sent me this covered bridge picture that he took in 1940 of the Amity Bridge in Madison County. The other picture is of the current Warren Pony on this site, which I took a few days ago. The problem was the metal bridge was supposedly built in 1934. According to Miriam Wood's Covered Bridges of Ohio, the CB was actually removed in 1957 (the last in the county). The Warren Pony likely was built in 1958 the date OHBI has listed for its reconstruction. So Don's contribution led to an interesting story.

Also, OHBI has the Warren listed as a through truss so they really blew this one!
